The product
One operation.
Connected records.
Follow material through the plant, keep the evidence with the work, and prepare your reporting from the same records.
The examples on this page use illustrative records.
Follow the material.
Trace an application back to its sources, or see where a production run’s biochar ended up. Follow the connections through storage, mixing and delivery.

Know what’s in the bin.
noma records each production run that goes into a bin and each draw that leaves it. Step through one bin, from filling to the field.
810 kg
dry biochar in bin A
Each production run lands as its own layer, with its date and dry weight. The biochar comes in wet: at 15% moisture, the bin also holds 143 kg of water.

400 kg
dry biochar drawn
Bin A draws the oldest layer first (FIFO): all of 8 Sep, then part of 10 Sep. The water in it goes along: 71 kg.
- 8 Sep270 kg
- 10 Sep130 kg
- Water71 kg
Each bin has its own draw method: oldest first (FIFO), newest first (LIFO), or a share of every layer (mix). Need a different rule? We can set it up for your site.
471 kg
on the weighbridge
The weighbridge weighs biochar and water together. noma subtracts the 15% moisture and takes 400 kg of dry biochar off the bin’s stock.

400 kg
dry biochar applied
A tractor spreads the load on Field 1, 0.2 ha, and works it into the topsoil. noma records 400 kg of dry biochar applied, 2 t per hectare, and traces every kilogram to its production run. The water goes on the field too, but only the dry biochar counts toward the carbon removal.

Net is what’s left.
The diesel, electricity and road kilometres it took to get biochar into the ground come off the carbon it stores. noma keeps each amount on the record where the work happened, so the net figure adds up step by step.
483
kg CO₂e net removal
620 kg stored, less 137 kg from six emission lines on three records.

Illustrative figures. Transport (dashed) counts the trip back. Estimates stay labelled until a bill of lading or meter reading replaces them.
Evidence and reporting
Keep the evidence with the record.

noma already flags readings that miss their estimate or a lab limit. AI checks will look across runs for values that need a closer look before reporting.
